The Challenge of Finding Real Wholesale Opportunity on Amazon
Amazon's FBA marketplace is competitive by design. For wholesale sellers, the hardest part isn't understanding the platform — it's finding products where real demand exists but competition hasn't yet caught up. Our client was stuck in a cycle of reviewing the same high-volume categories that every other seller was already targeting.
The situation was further complicated by the need for brand authorization. Sourcing a product is only half the equation. Without formal approval from the brand, resellers can't legally list the item, no matter how promising the numbers look. The client needed both sides solved — product discovery and brand access — and needed them solved together.
How We Approached the Research
Helion360 built the research process in two parallel tracks. The first focused on competitive market analysis at the category level — examining BSR trends, review velocity, pricing gaps, and inventory behavior to surface products where demand was real but seller density was still manageable. We weren't looking for the biggest products; we were looking for the right ones.
The second track focused on brand outreach. We identified emerging brands that had recently launched on Amazon without an established wholesale network. After profiling each one for product quality, demand potential, and market fit, we reached out directly to request approval on the client's behalf. For brands that responded positively, we supported the early conversation to move the authorization process forward.
Both tracks fed into a single, structured deliverable — a prioritized opportunity list with supporting data and status updates on brand outreach.
What the Work Produced
The client received a vetted set of product opportunities, each backed by market data rather than assumption. Alongside that, several new brand relationships were established — relationships that hadn't existed before we started. A portion of those brands formally extended wholesale authorization, giving the client access to inventory channels that were previously closed.
Helion360 also documented the research methodology so the client could continue running similar sprints independently as the market evolved. The goal was never just a one-time deliverable, but a repeatable process that supported long-term wholesale growth.
