The Sourcing Challenge
When we came into this project, the client was running a multi-category Amazon wholesale operation with a sourcing problem that was quietly limiting their growth. Their supplier relationships were concentrated, their product range was narrower than the market opportunity justified, and they lacked a structured way to evaluate new vendors at scale.
The categories in scope — electronics and home decor — don't share much common ground from a sourcing standpoint. Electronics require compliance verification, certification checks, and a close look at regional manufacturing standards. Home decor demands trend awareness, volume flexibility, and an understanding of what moves on Amazon at different price points. Solving both within a single research engagement meant building a framework that was rigorous enough for electronics and flexible enough for decor.
How We Structured the Research
Helion360 ran two parallel discovery tracks — one per category — while applying a consistent evaluation layer across both. We pulled from wholesale trade data, regional supplier directories, and marketplace performance signals to build a longlist of candidates, then filtered against the client's quality benchmarks, margin requirements, and Amazon fulfillment compatibility.
Regional diversification was a deliberate part of the strategy. We assessed supplier ecosystems across Southeast Asia, Eastern Europe, and established Western wholesale networks, identifying where the strongest value-to-quality ratios existed for each product type. Every supplier that made it into the final output was contact-ready — not just a name and a URL, but a full profile with sourcing context, MOQ data, and a clear rationale for inclusion.
What the Research Delivered
The final deliverable was a structured research report organized by category and region. Over 40 qualified supplier profiles were included, with top-tier recommendations flagged for immediate outreach. The client's sourcing team didn't need to do additional groundwork — the report was built to move them directly into negotiation.
Beyond the immediate shortlist, the engagement produced a repeatable sourcing methodology the client could apply as they expanded into new product lines. Within the first week of delivery, they had already initiated contact with several of the shortlisted suppliers.
